Aud- Eats | Ramadan Buffet The Grand Gem Restaurant, Grand Blue Wave Hotel

[REVIEW]

I have been eating non stop recently, oh this is so not a good sign. I should be watching my diet closely because I am a bride to be! But, how..tell me how can you say no to delicious food, moreover its with friends? I can't, I just can't! Keep the diet plan for tomorrow!

Thanks to Tony Johor Kaki, the Ma Cherie Johor Bloggers were invited to The Grand Gem, Grand Blue Wave Hotel for their Indian cuisine Ramadan Buffet. Oh and we met Peggy from My Johor Stories again!
The manager Mr Thiaga gave us some briefing on what will be served for the night. He did mentioned that The Grand GEM Restaurant will have three different buffet menus rotated throughout the whole Ramadan month.

I know this is random, but I find this cup interesting.

The favourite drink of the night, Mango Lassi with Almond bits on top. It is really thick and yummy!

Appetizer: Masala Papaddam

Appetizer: Chicken Vadal

Beware of the boom trap- Chili Padi. I was boomed! So hot and spicy that I had my tears!

Appetizer: Onion Pakoda or Onion Fritters. This should be my favourite I guess, non stop eating this throughout the night.

Mixed Grill Platter

I like the red one (Tandoori Chicken) the best. It is very tender yet juicy despite that it looks dry on the outside. Heard that it's cooked with a different method!

I found that they love mint. Everything also comes with this Mint Sauce but I did not try as I am allergy to Mint but the girls says it very refreshing.

Bhuna Gosht (mutton), Mutton Dalcha with Mixed Roti Naan. I was never a fan of mutton but I have to say I quite like Bhuna Gosht (top right). The meat is so soft and tender plus the herbs and spices helped to cover up the mutton smell. The Naan is good, especially the garlic ones

Baryani rice. I love this rice! Very evenly cooked and the texture is just nice. Not too hard, not too soft, perfect! But it's a little too salty for my taste bud.

Broccoli with mushroom and a sprinkle of cheese on top. Too bad the dish wasn't hot enough. If the cheese are melted if will be nicer.

Fushion Fried Rice with Basmati rice

The live cooking station specially setup for Ramadan.

Vegetarian Burgers. The paste is made of potato, tomato, and onions.

The chef performing on how to cook Rumali Bread. Flatten the dough and start flying them! It literally almost fly straight onto Kim's face.

After that, the dough was placed on top of an "upside down wok". The wok is not dirty, it is white in color because of salt water. When you cooked the dough over it, it will have a natural salty taste.

Rumali Bread (Roti Rumali)- Soft yet Chewy. Eat it like Roti Prata/ Chapatti.

Gulab Jamun (top) and Kesari (bottom). Gulab Jamun is made of deep fried milk with sweet syrup where Kesari is sweet semolina pudding flavoured with ghee and cardamom. Honestly, I don't really like it. It is too sweet.

Again ending the post with a Family photo, Uhh Group photo I mean. It does looks like family portrait isn't it? hahaa
